Brighton Festival Community Art Project: workshop, exhibition, and competition for school children and students.

As part of the Brighton Festival Fringe from 7th-28th May 2005 we are organising “Making Tracks”: workshops, historical exhibition, and display of children’s art work to be held in the Brighton Railway Mission Classrooms (part of our church building).
The theme sentence of the competition is : “the railways brought huge growth and social change to Brighton … ” Our aim is to stimulate imaginative and creative interest in an important factor which made our city what it is – architecturally, economically, historically, geographically, culturally and spiritually.
Entries may be in any medium. The judges will look for those entries which best capture the atmosphere and impact of the theme sentence.
First and second prizes will be awarded in age groups as below. Further prizes may be added.
Year 7 and above | first prize £50 second prize £25 |
Junior School | first prize £50 second prize £25 |
Infant School | first prize £25 second prize £15 |
Pre-School | art materials to the value of £10, £5 |
All entries will be rewarded, and as many entries as possible will be put on public display.
Closing date for entries (preferably mounted) is Friday 29th April 2005.
Entries can be brought to the Mission Classrooms in Stanley Road on Sundays 10.00-11.00, 12.15-13.00 or by arrangement (please email us).
